Villa Cleaning Checklist: Room by Room, Inside and Out
A good villa cleaning checklist works room by room and covers the places that are easy to forget: stairs, the maid's room, the laundry, storerooms, terraces and the roof. Use the list below for a full deep clean, and the schedule at the end for keeping a UAE villa on top of sand, dust and humidity between deep cleans.
Before you start
- Work top to bottom. Clean the upper floor before the ground floor, and high surfaces before floors, so dust falls onto areas you haven't done yet.
- Work inside out. Finish the interior before terraces and outdoor areas, so you don't carry sand back in.
- Check surfaces. Marble and natural stone need pH-neutral cleaners; acidic products can etch them. Never mix cleaning products.
- Plan for the heat. Do outdoor areas early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Villa cleaning checklist: living areas and majlis
- Ceiling fans, light fittings, chandeliers and AC grilles dusted
- Curtain rails and tops of curtains dusted; curtains vacuumed
- Tops of cupboards, shelves, picture frames and décor dusted
- Sofas and armchairs vacuumed, including under cushions
- Doors, frames, handles, light switches and sockets wiped
- Skirting boards wiped
- Interior glass, mirrors and glass tables cleaned
- Rugs vacuumed on both sides where possible
- Floors vacuumed and mopped, including under and behind furniture
Kitchen
- Hood, filters and splashback degreased
- Hob and oven exterior cleaned; oven interior if included
- Inside and outside of every cabinet and drawer
- Fridge exterior, handles and top; inside if emptied
- Microwave, kettle and small appliances cleaned
- Sink, taps and drain descaled and sanitised
- Counters and backsplash cleaned and sanitised
- Behind and under movable appliances
- Bins cleaned and sanitised
- Floor cleaned edge to edge
Outdoor kitchens and barbecue areas need the same attention to grease, plus a sweep for sand and leaves.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Bedrooms
- High-level dusting, including AC grilles and wardrobe tops
- Inside wardrobes and drawers if emptied
- Bed frames and headboards dusted; under beds vacuumed
- Mattresses vacuumed (professional mattress cleaning is a separate job)
- Bedside tables, lamps, mirrors and dressing tables cleaned
- Balcony doors, tracks and glass cleaned
- Floors vacuumed and mopped
Bathrooms
- Toilets cleaned and sanitised inside and out, including the base and behind
- Showers, tubs and screens descaled; grout scrubbed
- Taps, shower heads and fittings descaled
- Sinks, vanities and mirrors cleaned
- Cabinets wiped inside and out
- Extractor fan covers dusted
- Drains cleared and floor traps cleaned
- Floors and wall tiles cleaned
Watch for mould. Villa bathrooms that are used less often, such as guest bathrooms, can develop mould around seals and grout when the AC is off. Run the extractor fan and leave doors open between uses.
Stairs, laundry, maid's room and storerooms
Stairs, landings and hallways
- Banisters and handrails wiped
- Stair edges, risers and corners vacuumed
- Landing windows and light fittings cleaned
- Entrance doors, frames and door mats cleaned
Laundry, maid's room and storerooms
- Washing machine and dryer exteriors, seals and detergent drawers cleaned
- Dryer lint filter cleared
- Laundry sink and taps descaled
- Maid's room and its bathroom given the same checklist as other bedrooms and bathrooms
- Storerooms swept, shelves wiped and checked for pests
Outside: terraces, balconies, garden and roof
- Terraces and balconies swept and washed
- Outdoor furniture wiped down
- Exterior side of ground-floor windows and sliding doors, including tracks
- Entrance and porch swept
- Pool deck or surrounds swept, if you have one
- Roof access area swept, and drains checked for sand and debris
- Bins emptied and washed
High exterior glass and facades usually need specialist equipment and a separate booking.
Villa cleaning schedule
| How often | Tasks |
|---|---|
| Daily | Kitchen counters and hob wiped, dishes done, bins emptied, quick sweep of entrances |
| Weekly | Floors vacuumed and mopped, bathrooms cleaned, dusting, bedding changed, terraces swept |
| Monthly | AC grilles and fans dusted, inside microwave and fridge, skirting, window tracks, laundry machine seals |
| Every few months | Curtains, sofa and mattress vacuumed thoroughly, outdoor furniture, storerooms |
| Once or twice a year, or after events | Full deep clean; consider upholstery, mattress, carpet and AC duct cleaning |
Adjust the schedule for your household. Pets, young children and dust storms all mean more frequent cleaning.
When to bring in professionals
A full villa deep clean is a big job. Professional teams work to the same kind of room-by-room checklist and bring enough people to finish in one day. Tip Top's villa deep clean follows a room-by-room checklist, is inspected before handover, uses low-odour, non-toxic products around children and pets, and is done in one visit with teams sized to your property. Villa deep cleaning starts from AED 999, confirmed after a free assessment.
